A massive well done to the team, I wasn’t there because I was attending to other business, I pretty much did the whole business plan so I thought I would let the other team members do some work. During this time, I managed to have a faling out with a member of staff, loose a girlfriend and gained 3 clients. Win some, loose some I guess.
A team of Taunton’s students has taken joint first prize in the Push Ahead Challenge organised by the Solent Education Business Partnership.
The students had to come up with business ideas to improve upon the existing good customer service at Southampton Airport. Their ‘breeze baggle’ idea – a two part security and loyalty reward tag – was a hit with the judges. Reward points are earned every time the breeze baggle user travels through Southampton Airport, with points redeemable at the airport’s retail affiliates.
“I have enjoyed this experience and it has been very beneficial in gaining skills that may help me in my future career,” says Grant Self.
The team, all AS level Business Studies students, won £250 for its innovative product that adhered to the competition brief to incorporate the ‘breeze through’ ethos of the airport.
The winning team members (pictured) were: Djamel Makhlouf, Alex Carata, Kristine McIntyre and Grant Self. Other team members not pictured were Antonio Gashi and Jake McHugh.
Really proud that my work won something, who knows if it means anything, but im sure it will be useful for ucas
Wednesday for me saw the attendance of FutureStory in Southampton. The event seemed well organised, apart from the problems showing a video on the projector. I attended as a student from Tauntons College studying economics and business, moreover, an owner of a small business in the local area. The event was formal but had a very laid back feel, which was refreshing from the normal fashion orientated college feel.
FutureStory: how people and businesses in towns and cities across the UK are adapting to and succeeding in the new global economy. Theres many reasons stopping us from for-filling the success that is the business world, playing on a global business is difficult for the smaller company based in Marchwood. Thanks to the internet it’s seamlessly easy to talk to people on a worldwide basis to do business with. Initialsketch being a prime example of how we utilise the internet.
During the conference we were asked to discuss the points that stop younger people from moving on in the global scale, I was interviewed by a few people on Wednesday, two of them being video interviews. Attached below is the Video from Mark Hillary, one of the panelists.
So we’ve been messing around for a few weeks now using mac and the new software and practices that come with it. Initialsketch is in overdrive this year and its already paying off, this year, we’ve already generated enough revenue to buy licences for the Creative Master Suite of CS4 for Mac. We will now be using, a macbook pro to also do development work for the company.
Using the revenue from this year also, we’ve gone and got mass quantities of stationary printed up. We sent over 100 letters last year, this year we’re expecting to send a lot more. Official contracts (Now legally Signed) and other official letters will be delivered by Royal Mail, suited in the following style.
Initialsketch arn’t playing anymore, Website Developers In Southampton, You’ve Got Competition.
I’ve used them before and hated them. I’ve recently started to become a bit of an apple fan. Every geek is going to kill me for saying that but hey, for website development… I think that this is the best thing for me to do.
Not spending much time at home now, i need a powerful machine, a light machine, a machine that does everything i need it to do without the crap. Unfortunately, that only leaves me with a mac.
I’m keeping my high powered HP ML110(MODDED) for when im at home but i’m now totally moving all my work to mac.
I’m using my student discount so i should get a good 15% off. Thats setting me back about £800 odd. Because I’ve got steady cash coming in from mcdonalds, i should be alright. Using my Flexi, I can pay it off in lump too, Which is greaaat!
Its the 13.3′ model… 2.26GHz with 2GB ram and everything a mac has. It’s got the works, including a Backlit keyboard, which is just so nice.
I’ll blog when i know details, as to when im picking it up ect. It might be as soon as 2moz, depending on the bank.
Cause my moped has decided to break itself (I’m getting a new shiny performance sport exhaust – it’s sick) the situation arose that me and my youth worker/mate were on the way to my house. I’m well known for working way to hard and to much of the time. It’s 23:51 right now and im still working, im still writing lists of things i need to do. It’s stupid. Im an entrepreneur and I love that, I love the business world and to be honest, its where i belong.
An entrepreneur is a person who has possession of a new enterprise, venture or idea, and assumes significant accountability for the inherent risks and the outcome. He or she is an ambitious leader who combines land, labor, and capital to often create and market new goods or services. - Cheers Wikipedia Babes
The fact is, i do work too much and sooner or later (if it hasnt already) its going to hurt me. Thats something I dont want to happen. Starting this week, initialsketch will not be open on Sundays. By all means you can send me e-mails but they wont be read until the offices open on monday morning. This is to give myself a rest. As Oli said, its important to have you vital days off, this makes who you are and will actually stop you from burning out totally.
I want to put my heart and soul into the business and I will continue too but right now, i need my day off. That could be once ina while, having a lie in, going out, more parties than now, just listening to a sermon in church for once, work on my own faith and not others for once. I think its vital and thanks to Oli, this might be the small step that could save me.
